Merryachi Christmas

Founded in 1981 by internationally renowned mariachi master José Hernández, Mariachi Sol de México de José Hernández is an eight-time, GRAMMY-nominated ensemble recognized worldwide for championing and transforming mariachi music. Known as Los Embajadores del Mariachi, the Los Angeles–based group has performed across the globe — from England and Spain to China, North Korea and Saudi Arabia — and for five U.S. presidents, while collaborating with legendary artists including Vicente and Alejandro Fernández, Luis Miguel, Linda Ronstadt, Selena and the Beach Boys.

Each holiday season, Mariachi Sol de México brings its acclaimed artistry to audiences nationwide through its festive “Merry-achi Christmas” tour, a vibrant concert experience that blends beloved holiday classics with traditional mariachi music and innovative arrangements. Audiences can expect spirited interpretations of seasonal favorites alongside mariachi standards, including selections inspired by Tchaikovsky’s “Nutcracker” Suite, “The Christmas Song” and the beloved finale, “Feliz Navidad.” The program also features music from the ensemble’s Latin GRAMMY-nominated album Romances Eternos.

Led by Hernández — whose career spans more than five decades — “Merry-achi Christmas” reflects the ensemble’s mission to honor tradition while expanding the possibilities of mariachi music. Beyond the stage, Mariachi Sol de México remains deeply committed to education and cultural preservation through Hernández’s nonprofit Mariachi Heritage Society, which has influenced mariachi programs across 37 states and helped shape future generations of musicians.
